We know you’re excited to see the young guys hit the court this year. And we’re not talking about your Memphis Tigers.
For the first time in more than 10 years, the Memphis Grizzlies roll out a roster that doesn’t include Mike Conley or Marc Gasol . . . or for that matter any comparisons to what was called the “Grit and Grind” era of Grizzlies basketball.
So what era is this, exactly? No one knows. The team is SO young, SO different — from the wizardry of rookie GM Zach Kleiman to Head Coach Taylor Jenkins in his first year, all the way down to the teenager the Grizzlies made the No. 2 pick in the 2019 draft: Ja Morant.
Practices start tomorrow. Exhibitions start this weekend, and the regular season tips off in a few weeks. But for now, it’s reporters and microphones at Media Day.
We’ll be updating this with new interviews as I get them, but for now, here’s Ja Morant and Taylor Jenkins, offering their views of what they’re trying to build here. Check back often to see more interviews from the new-look Grizzlies!
