The Memphis legal community on Thursday will be focused on the 2019 Unity in Diversity Scholarship Banquet, presented by the Reaves Law Firm at the Guest House at Graceland at 6:30 P.M.
This year’s keynote speaker will be former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Rodney E. Slater, the first African-American Director of the Federal Highway Administration.
The 2019 Unity in Diversity Scholarship Banquet brings together more than 500 judges, lawyers, law students, and leaders representing the corporate, non-profit, educational, and government sectors. It will highlight a wide array of contributions and achievements, paying particular attention to race, ethnicity, gender, LBGTQ status, and disability status while promoting diversity in all of its forms as a driver of innovation and excellence.
Awards will also be presented to the following recipients who demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion within the Memphis legal community.

o High School Student: Jasmin Magaña, Freedom Prep High School
This event will celebrate the many ways diversity enriches The University of Memphis, the Memphis Legal Community, and the nation as a whole.
