The Tri-State Defender will host its fourth TSD in the Community Forum, with a focus on public safety. The forum is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, at 6 p.m. at Hickory Hill Park and Community Center, 3910 Ridgeway Road.
This free, public event will bring residents and key leaders together to address concerns, share information and discuss strategies for improving public safety in Memphis and Shelby County.

“This forum is part of our ongoing commitment to not only report on issues impacting our community but also to create space for real conversations between residents and decision-makers,” said Stephanie R. Jones, The Tri-State Defender editor. “Public safety is one of the most pressing topics for Memphians, and this event is designed to give the public direct access to the people shaping policies and solutions.”
The panel will include:
- Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Shelby County Sheriff
- Chief C.J. Davis, Memphis Police Department
- Bill Gibbons, president and Public Safety Institute executive director, Memphis Shelby Crime Commission
- Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy
Civic leader Lori Spicer Robertson will lead the discussion.
