TSD ON NEWSTANDS NOW: TSU grad makes history, Kappas make a St. Jude donation and Chuck O’Bannon makes a movie

Heads up, all you old-school newspaper fans: The latest PRINT EDITION of The Tri-State Defender is out now!
If you’ve been paying attention, you know we’ve shifted away from a weekly print edition at the beginning of the year. We’re still delivering the news you need right here online every day, and every week, we provide a ‘flipbook’ format of the publication, like the one you see below.
But at the end of each month, we ask our printer to crank up the presses and put some of these beautiful words and pictures on actual paper for people to enjoy. After all, morning paper + coffee = good start to your day.
For this issue, we’ve compiled several of the best stories from February, along with some brand new content. When you pick up this issue, here’s some of what you’ll find:
  • A Tennessee State alum makes scientific history by helping to discover a new element;
  • Kappas present a major donation to St. Jude;
  • Summer Owens’ “Love Yourself” event prioritizes, pampers and pleases participants
  • Memphis-based documentary filmmaker Chuck O’Bannon has a new movie out about the legendary Dr. Ernest C. Withers called “SNAP”
  • District 12 is ready to entertain millennials on the move
  • Derrick Rose takes nothing for granted
  • Plus, a schedule of the upcoming TSSAA High School Basketball Championships!

Some of the latest content is in the flipbook PDF below, but you know you like the feeling of popping that paper open, so get to the newsstands and get this issue of the Tri-State Defender TODAY!
