AA Film Critics Association to celebrate Prince’s cinematic legacy

The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) is teaming up with the country’s libraries in order to celebrate the cinematic legacy of Prince.

The “Celebration of Prince in Cinema” will take place over two weekends and will feature both screenings and discussions of Prince’s work in four films: Under The Cherry Moon, Sign Of The Times, Graffiti Bridge and Purple Rain.

“Prince was one of the few black musicians who enjoyed success in cinema,” Gil Robertson, AAFCA President said in a released statement. “His aptitude as a visual artist was stunning and continues to be influential today. It is both a privilege and an honor to share his cinematic works with our community partners around the country.”
