It is not every day that you can just dip your paintbrush and splatter paint onto a canvas, a person or against a wall. However, that behavior is encouraged at KandiSparklez CraftWorld.
The paint splatter room, located at 6172 Macon Rd., is unpredictable yet incredibly beautiful when finished, mesmerizing and therapeutic to try. On Saturday (Dec. 7) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, KandiSparklez CraftWorld will have its soft opening.
“Come and enjoy this experience, where you can try this technique without worrying about the mess, the stress and the supplies,” said Chiquita Kandi Willis, the store’s owner.
KandiSparklez CraftWorld is locally owned and operated by Willis. Visitors should expect music, glow-in-the-dark paint, fun vibes and “bling” – the craft of adding decorative gems to clothing and more.
“I wanted to provide a space where kids, families and individuals could come together to create, learn and have fun,” she said.
The craft store offers splatter paint sessions, bling workshops, craft supplies, custom bling services, crafts for kids, birthday parties, date nights, paint-and-sip parties and more.
There will also be retail, custom embroidery and screen-printing aspects to the business.
“We can add bling to pretty much anything you can think of,” added Willis.
Parties are not limited to children either. You can have your grown-up birthday party, bridal shower, work party or bachelorette party here too.
“The business is a Bring Your Own Bottle facility,” Willis said.
“I know that there are a lot of crafters in Memphis, and the big craft stores … are often overpriced,” she said. “That is the reason I began crafting in the beginning and is also what inspired me to create this business. There is not a place like this in our city.”
