Black Author Christmas Expo set to deliver ‘The Gift of Words’

Tennessee State Rep. G. A. Hardaway (D-District 93) will host his 2019 Black Author Holiday Expo: “The Gift of Words!” on Saturday (Dec. 21) from noon until 3 p.m. at the University of Memphis Research Foundation Research Park located at 460 S. Highland St.

“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to bring the gift of words to Memphis through the Black Author Christmas Expo,” said Hardaway.

“In addition to celebrating and getting more exposure for local authors of color, this is an excellent opportunity for those who have always felt ‘they have a book in them’ to come and learn from those who have already gone through the process.”

The Expo will include a discussion on the need for African-American authors in society, current African-American book topics and a focus on self-publishing vs. using a traditional publishing company. There also will be a question and answer session.

Featured authors for the event include: Forlanda Anderson, Angela Kay Austin, Sherman Brown, Pametria Brown, DeAngelo Collier, Damian Griffin, Jae Henderson, Florence Howard, Dr. Noel Hutchinson, Otis Sanford, Rochelle Stevens and Latrivia Welch.

The 2019 Black Author Christmas Expo is a free event, open to the public and kid-friendly.

Reserve free tickets at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2019-christmas-author-expo-tickets-86274702959. Light refreshments will be served.
