Chicago, Illinois – August 22, 2018: Jorie Hendrix, mother of Chicago high school basketball player Damari Hendrix, sits with him on an outside court in LaFollette Park, near their home in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago. Hendrix, then 16, nearly died after being shot in the head on this court during Labor Day weekend 2016. He miraculously survived and is back playing the game. The shooter was never identified.
