Hip Hop Squares will have celebrity contestants playing tic-tac-toe. VH1’s parent company, Viacom, has ordered 20 episodes of celebs testing their pop culture knowledge.

“‘Hip Hop Squares’ is going to be fun and spontaneous,” says Ice Cube. “Unlike typical game shows, viewers should never know what’s going to happen next.”

Back in 2012, Viacom’s sibling network MTV2 produced a show of the same name, and it too ran for 20 episodes. VH1 and Logo president Chris McCarthy said he was excited to have Ice Cube a part of the show.

“Ice Cube is one of the most prolific figures in hip-hop history and American culture at large. We are thrilled to partner with him and CBS Distribution to reinvent one of America’s most iconic game shows with Hip Hop Squares.”

The show will debut in the fall.
