Old habits truly do die hard and notorious international jewel thief Doris Payne is back at it again, having been arrested on Monday night at a Walmart in DeKalb County, Ga. and charged with theft by shoplifting.
According to WSBTV police were called in to the store at around 5 p.m. after receiving a report about a woman shoplifting. They later identified the alleged shoplifter as the 86-year-old Payne, who apparently attempted to hide items from the pharmacy, electronics and grocery departments of the store.
The Atlanta Constitutional Journal reports that polic say she stole about $86.22 worth of goods from the Walmart.
Throughout her criminal history, Payne is believed to have stolen about $2 million worth of items over the past 60 years. Payne has been extremely open about her habits of theft, as the AJC notes, and was the subject of a Netflix documentary dubbed the Life and Crimes of Doris Payne.
