Bill Cosby’s attorney is seemingly not bothered that prosecutors reportedly plan to retry his client, whose sexual assault case ended in a mistrial. Defense attorney Brian McMonagle has expressed confidence that if the case ends up being retried, Cosby will end up being acquitted.

“What I would say to all of Mr. Cosby’s fans and some of the folks on the other side of this, we have a wonderful criminal-justice system in this country,” McMonagle told Good Morning America. “Trust it, believe in it, and I’m confident that if this case is retried, he’ll be acquitted.”

On Saturday, after six days and 52 hours of grueling deliberations, jurors were unable to come to a consensus on any of the charges against Cosby, who was facing three counts of felony aggravated indecent assault. Later that day, the Montgomery County, Pa., District Attorney’s Office announced that Cosby will be facing another trial on the charges, with District Attorney Kevin Steele insisting that the plaintiff, Andrea Constand, is entitled to a verdict in the case.

Cosby’s wife, Camille Cosby, blasted the district attorney in a statement over the weekend, calling him “heinously and explosively ambitious,” and also accused the judge of “overtly and arrogantly collaborating with the DA.”

“I know that we were personally vilified during the trial, and I think when you’re looking at Mrs. Cosby, you’re looking at a wife who believes that the system is unfairly treating her husband and victimizing her husband,” McMonagle said of Camille Cosby’s statement.
