Empowering Fathers: Celebrate the First AFIRM Graduation of the Year with Families Matter Inc. Tonight

Memphis is set to celebrate an important event tonight as Families Matter Inc. hosts its first AFIRM (A Father’s Involvement Really Matters) Fatherhood Graduation of 2024.

The event will be held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 620 Parkrose Rd., Memphis, TN, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Tonight’s graduation is not just a ceremony; it’s a celebration of over 40 fathers who have embraced their journey through the AFIRM program. AFIRM, a community-based initiative funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services, supports low-income fathers in Memphis and Shelby County, aged 18 to 40.

These dedicated men, connected to TANF or with recent child support orders, have worked tirelessly to develop stronger parenting and co-parenting skills, increase their earning potential, and ensure consistent child support payments.

Tonight’s ceremony will honor these men for their commitment to improving their parenting skills and their children’s lives. Families Matter Inc., a local non-profit, leads the program in collaboration with several partners.

The ceremony will honor their commitment and progress in class, as well as their employment achievements, including milestone payments.

The program, led by Families Matter Inc., partners with several local organizations to offer comprehensive support, including fatherhood coaching, parenting support, career building, job placement, and guidance in managing child support.

Join us in applauding these fathers’ efforts to become the best dads they can be. For more details, visit Families Matter AFIRM program page.
