Two teenagers are dead of suicide after they killed themselves just days apart.
The pop culture site GOT reported that Mercedes Shaday Smith killed herself on Thursday at her dorm in Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky. Two days later, her boyfriend, Markeice ‘Mari’ Brown, killed himself as well.
Brown posted a video to Facebook announcing his intention to commit suicide and specifically blaming the bullying he had experienced as people online had blamed him for Smith’s death.
“Everybody’s trying to put this on me … Y’all don’t know what she was going through. You don’t know what we [were] going through,” he said.
“I just can’t do this no more,” he adds. “I’m trying to get out all my words before I go.”
The exact cause of death is not known, and as this is still a developing story, little is known about either teen. However, there is a GoFundMe page for Smith to cover her funeral costs, as she is scheduled to be laid to rest on Tuesday.
