The LeMoyne Owen men’s basketball team split a pair of road games recently and look to bounce back when Central State University comes to Bruce Johnson Hall on Saturday.

Last Saturday, LOC outscored Spring Hill College 88-79 at the Arthur. R Outlaw Recreation Center in Mobile, Ala. More than 300 fans were in attendance for the SIAC match up.

Spring Hill College led at half time, 42-33. Spring Hill shot the ball better on more attempts, going 18-35 from the field while LeMoyne-Owen could only muster 10-26 shooting.

The Magicians woke up in the second half however, exploding for 55 points. Devin Booker had 21 points and Tryron Banks was close behind with 20 points. Tory Mason had 12 rebounds and helped LOC to leave Alabama with the victory. Spring Hill’s Chase Shellman made 25 points with 10 rebounds but it was still not enough to fight off the Magicians.

LOC remained in Alabama for an “MLK Day” game against Tuskegee University, where they lost a close game, 78-73. More than 675 basketball fans were there to watch.

The Magicians were rolling in the first half, shooting 51 percent. But the Golden Tigers dominated the second half, shooting 60 percent. LeMoyne-Owen’s Tyrone Banks led all scorers with 22 points.

The Magicians take on Central State University Saturday. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm.
