On Tuesday, the NYPD took to Twitter to ask anyone who has information on Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam’s apparent suicide to come forward. The history-making judge was found in the Hudson River on Wednesday.
“The NYPD is seeking info on the death of Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam,” the account for Harlem’s 26th Precinct wrote on Twitter. “Anyone with info is asked to call our detectives.”
Police sources added that it was likely Abdus-Salaam had committed suicide and that she was struggling with depression. There were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play, though a medical examiner will determine the cause of death officially, and the investigation is still ongoing.
“The 26 precinct is requesting anyone with information about her death or who has had contact with her during the past several days to contact the 26 Precinct Detective Squad,” police tweeted in their request for information.
