Paying guests outraged after ‘lavish’ Ja Rule festival turns into a bust

The Fyre Festival in the Bahamas was supposed to be a “lavish” getaway for those rich few who could afford to pay at least $12,000 for a ticket.

But instead of an extravagant gala with celebrities and catered meals, what guests got instead was badly-pitched tents and plastic-boxed cheese sandwiches. Not to mention the feral dogs roaming all over the place.

Dissatisfied customers took their complaints to social media using the hashtag #DumpsterFyre to blast not only the festival but its organizer, rapper and actor Ja Rule. According to one complaint, for example, the tents were “so poorly made that they’d blow over in a second if there was any wind or rain,” according to Billboard.

Another guest complained that the catered dinner they were promised was “literally bread, cheese, and salad with dressing.”

And guests couldn’t even drink away their sorrows over the shoddy festival, since they were told when they arrived that the beer had been ordered “late” and would not arrive for another day.

On Friday morning, the festival announced that it would be booking flights back home for its remaining customers, and the festival, which was supposed to be back-to-back weekends of luxury, was announced to be postponed.
