ALL OVER TOWN: Sinbad at Chuckles; Royal Studios turns 60!

November 17-19 – Sinbad will be at Chuckles Comedy House for a hilarious set of performances. Best known for his roles on the television sitcoms “A Different World,” and “The Sinbad Show,” the veteran stand-up icon has also written a self-help book entitled Sinbad’s Guide to Life: (Because I Know Everything). November 18 – Royal Studios invites you to help celebrate its 60th anniversary at The Orpheum Theatre! As the final event of the Royal Studios’ 60th Anniversary series, ‘Sixty Soulful Years’ takes a look at the past, present and future of Royal with star-studded performances by award-winning artists, including: Anthony Hamilton, Robert Cray and more! Celebrating the recent collaborations and GRAMMY wins of Boo Mitchell, Sixty Soulful Years will be an unbelievable night of music, dance, film, and fun. November 18 – Imani Aisha invites you to ‘Headwraps and AfroBeats.’ This is a Class and Pop Up Shop! Celebrate National Headwrap Day (November 20) just a little early. Vibe out to our hand-selected tunes featuring afro beats and shop with select vendors, and learn some head wrapping tips! This event runs from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Makeda’s Cookies on South Main.

November 18 – Get into the holiday spirit by coming to The Annual Downtown Memphis Holiday Tree Lighting! Everyone is welcomed and admission is free. The event will include a special appearance from Santa, holiday carols from Soulsville Charter School, holiday arts and crafts, a letter to Santa station with mailing, and hot chocolate and s’mores! The event will be from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Special guests will light the Downtown Memphis Holiday Tree at 5:30 p.m. The tree is located right outside of The Majestic Grille on Main Street.

November 18 – Celebrate an early Thanksgiving Dinner with the Memphis Riverboats! The Thanksgiving Dinner Cruise is truly a feast to be thankful for! Enjoy two hours on the Mississippi River with our Jazz Band and treat yourself to a traditional holiday feast, with all the trimmings but without all the work! Boarding time is 6 p.m. and departure time is 6:30 p.m. The riverboat will be return to dock at 8:30 p.m. The meal includes: ham, turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, rolls, cobbler and pies. Adults: $66 plus tax.
